Prepare for the cold and snowy winter that’s predicted by stocking up on books and movies for your reading and viewing entertainment, all at budget-friendly prices.

Browse our Spooktacular Book Sale tables starting Oct. 19 and running all week until Oct. 25 during library hours. You’ll find good-condition novels, nonfiction, coffee table volumes, children’s stories, and all kinds of reading material, not to mention the tables full of movies we’ve collected. Items are for sale by donation and all proceeds go to Stettler Friends of the Library to be put toward the kinds of library programs you see publicized each week in this column.

Our annual all-ages Monster Bash is just around the corner and we have so much planned on Oct. 26th from 1 to 3 pm. There will be crafts, games, treats, and a costume parade that will make your blood run cold! We ask that you pre-register to get in on the fun so call today and guarantee your spot!

On the topic of library programs, do you have a membership?

The benefits of a library card are numerous and rewarding. Every receipt you take home after borrowing items from the library itemizes what you saved by not having to purchase books and movies. The savings can run into the thousands per year.

When you sign up as a new member or renew your card in October, you’ll be entered to win a prize package for a family fun weekend in Calgary including passes to Telus Spark Science Centre, Calgary Zoo, $200 downtown restaurant gift card, a $100 gift card for gas, and $300 for accommodations. Renew or sign up today!
