Are your home bookshelves groaning under the weight of excess books?

Why not free up some space and give them a new life in someone else’s home? We’re looking for donations of lightly used books and DVDs, throughout the month of March for the Friends of the Library Society’s Annual Giant Book Sale to be held during the Trade Show on Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15. Donations accepted until Thursday, April 6. No encyclopedias please.


The kids at Something Cool After School will be accepting the Leprechaun challenge to grow a colourful rainbow, Thu, March 16 at 4 p.m, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day (You’ll have to provide your own pot of gold, though).

Join the fun! And, be sure to return on Tue, March 21 when we’ll be making thumbprint art for personalized buttons you can wear on your jacket. On Thu, March 23, test your building skills with the Big Bad Wolf STEM challenge. All activities are for ages 6 and up.

Plan ahead for the exciting March Break activities we’ve got planned. Afternoons at 1 p.m, from March 27-31, we’ve got fun events and activities in store for kids aged 6 and up.

Tuesday—Peeps Diorama DIY

Wednesday—Movie Matinee: Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile

Thursday—April Fool’s Pranks Tutorial


And on Fri, March 31, at 6 p.m. Nerf War 2023 breaks out. Be sure to register early to reserve your spot.

Are you a Lego Maniac? Lego Club meets Sat, March 18 at 11 a.m. to dive into the library’s giant stash of Lego bricks. Ages 6+.

Little ones aged 0-5 love the rhythm and word-play of stories and songs – a time-honoured way to develop language and a love of literature.

Bring them to Read & Rhyme Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Be sure to download the free app 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. As you track your reading, we’ll reward you with small prizes when you reach your milestones.

Finish the school year well! There are still a few months left to help your child improve basic skills. We offer individual tutoring at no charge for students Kindergarten-Grade 12 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 4 p.m. Call for an appointment.

Teens & ’Tweens:

Create a cute cardboard animal and bring it to life with the magic of gears and pulleys on Wed, March 22 at 4:30 p.m. On March 29, we’ll make cuddly pillows and rugs using pom-poms. Ages 10 and up.

Calling all youth between the ages of 12 and 24! Join us for a free night of gaming and pizza Thu, March 23 at the Donalda Public Library at 4:30 p.m. The catch? We’re planning a youth-led project and want your opinions and ideas. To sign up, call the Donalda Library at 403-430-2665.


Join other adults regularly on Tuesday afternoons at 1 p.m. for socializing, crafts, and other fun activities. On March 21, we’ll create personalized button art with our thumbprints. And be sure to join us for Bingo on March 28.

Minds in Motion Lite is a program of social and mental stimulation for those experiencing cognitive decline. Join us for simulating games, socializing, and snacks. We meet Thursdays at 2 p.m. All are welcome.

Meet up with literary-minded friends to discuss this month’s Reader’s Circle novel, The Soviet Sisters by Anika Scott, where secrets, surveillance, and sisterhood are set in early Cold War Russia on Tue, March 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Monday nights are online gaming nights for all ages. To join us, you’ll need a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. Call us for details.

Super Smash Bros. Tournament takes place Sat, March 18 at 1 p.m. Duke it out as your favourite Nintendo character.

Your local library is a treasure trove of resources, entertainment, and information. You’ll find access to ebooks, audiobooks, eMagazines and newspapers around the world. Besides books and DVDs, we lend board games, video-games, toys, and other devices. We can also clean and buff the scratches out of your CDs and DVDs, $2/disc. Check out our website at
