Come for a Byte, in partnership with Stettler Adult Learning Centre, is our popular workshop to help you navigate your electronic device and learn to protect yourself from online scams. Join us for two Tuesdays, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19, at the Botha Seniors Centre from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bring your phone or tablet, as well as your questions. Lunch is provided at this free program. Spaces are limited so call to reserve your spot as soon as you can.

Have you ever tried to draw something only to have it come out looking nothing like what you pictured? Often our writing turns out the same way. We may have a fantastic idea but when we write it, the words fall flat.

Join local author, David Daniels, of the Black Menagerie series for Bringing Your Writing to Life! on Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. He’ll relate personal experiences with writing and provide handy pointers to make your writing take on a life of its own.

Children:

When school’s out, the library’s in! Come to the library on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. for a matinee showing of Hook. Hot and yummy popcorn will be served.
Looking for something to do at 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays? Come to the library and join Something Cool After School.

On Nov. 7 we’ll experiment to find the fastest paper airplane. Then on Nov. 12, we’ll mess around with glow-in-the-dark waterbeads!

And the fun doesn’t end on Nov. 14 when we create gak slime.

Bring your little ones (0-5 yrs) to Read & Rhyme on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays at 10:30 a.m. for fun stories and songs with Keyanna. Join our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program and we’ll reward you with a small prize each time you reach your family reading goals.

Teens & ’Tweens:

Nov. 13 is chock-full of programs to keep your teens and tweens busy. Hot chocolate in a jar is a great present for just about anyone.

We’ll make these fancy, flavourful gifts at 4:30 p.m. Ages 10+. Please pre-register.

Then get ready to make some epic art at Teen Art Night at 5:30 p.m. where you’ll paint, sketch, or create with clay. Every month, we try something new. Ages 13+.

Dungeons & Dragons Night is for youth who love adventure, strategy, and storytelling. Join us Tuesdays, 5:30 p.m. Ages 13 +. Snacks are provided to fuel your quest.

Adults:

Create your family tree or create a wonderful craft on November 7.

Start your amazing journey into exploring your family tree at the Stettler Genealogy Club meeting where all levels, from beginner to experienced researchers, are welcome. Or light up the darkness this winter by creating frosted luminaries at Crystal’s Crafters. Both programs start at 6:30 p.m. but only crafters need to pre-register.

Come to peace with the difficult journey of living with someone who drinks to excess by joining an Al-Anon meeting, on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Confidentiality is assured and all are welcome.

Afternoon Friends have fun when they get together each Tuesday, at 1 p.m. for crafts, movies, or games. On Nov. 12, Bingo is the name of the game, with prizes for the winner.

Collaborate on art projects, create, and talk about all things art-related at Stettler Art Club on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Bring your own supplies and your work-in-process.

Reader’s Circle November choice is The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab, in which a young woman in 18th century France makes a bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets. The club will meet Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m. to talk about the book and have a spot of tea.

For light exercise and brain-stimulating games in a low-key social setting, Minds in Motion is for those experiencing cognitive decline. We meet on Thursdays from 1-3 p.m.

If you could use help polishing up your resume, our volunteer resource person with more than 30 years of experience in employment support is available for appointments on Thursday afternoons. Call to book a consultation today.

All Ages:

Virtual Reality is a fun way to experience adventures somewhere beyond the real world. Bring a friend and try it out on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.

Monday nights are gaming nights, 8-9 p.m. when Stettler and Rocky Mountain House get together online. The group chat link is available from the library. Don’t forget to sign up with Nintendo Switch Online so you can be part of the Nintendo games.

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness?” ~John Steinbeck
