Firebrand, last year’s historical drama about Henry VIII’s sixth wife, Katherine Parr, will be featured as this month’s Film Circuit selection on April 7 at 6:30 p.m.
Bring your friends for an evening’s entertainment set in 16th-century England, filled with sumptuous period costumes and fraught with the dangerous whims of a curmudgeonly, disease-ridden King Henry played by Jude Law.
Admission is free, though donations are gratefully accepted, and a concession will be open for your nibbling needs.
Let your bookcases breathe by lightening their load. We are still accepting donations of gently used books, DVDs/Blu-rays, and CDs until April 5, anticipating the Friends Spring Book Sale to be held April 11 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and April 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Find something for your kids to do at Something Cool After School on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 p.m. Use your imagination on April 8 to create a fantastic scene in a Peeps diorama. Then enter your masterpiece in our annual contest for fun prizes.
Join us again on April 10 to make a colourful suncatcher from aquarium beads. Ages 6 and up.
Little ones (0-5 yrs) love stories and songs, and they’ll get plenty of both when you bring them to Read & Rhyme Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays at 10:30 a.m. To keep motivated in your family reading, ask the staff about 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, and the little ones can receive a small prize each time they reach their reading goals.

Let the wind make music for you with beautiful windchimes you’ll make yourself by scrounging unique materials on April 9 at 4:30 p.m. Ages 10+.
Join fellow adventurers for a night of imagination and strategizing at Dungeons & Dragons Night on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. Ages 13 +. Snacks will be provided!

Interested in combining your love of books with delicious food? Novel Bites Supper Club is for you! We’ll meet at a different local restaurant monthly to sample the fare and enjoy a lively book discussion. For April, pick up your copy of The Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter by Hazel Gaynor.

The Reader’s Circle’s April selection, Fire Weather by John Vaillant, details the partnership fire has had with the natural world and humanity for millennia while looking in depth at how Fort McMurray was affected. Grab a copy of this non-fiction book at the library and join in the group discussion on April 30 at 6:30 p.m.
Minds in Motion, a program of the Alzheimer’s Society, is for those experiencing cognitive decline. We meet Wednesdays at 1 p.m. Boost your mental processes with an hour of light exercise followed by low-stress, brain-stimulating games. Caregivers are welcome, too.
Stettler Public Library is pleased and excited to have a special Film Circuit on May 9 at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Centre. Our movie for the evening is a movie set in 1930’s Alberta about a family caught in a large scandal and is filmed in and around Central Alberta. Called The Ties that Bind, we are excited to have director/producer James Reckseidler and members of the cast and crew join us for a Q&A following the movie.
Early bird tickets are $10, available at the library, or $15 at the door. Come and celebrate local cinema!
