Sept. 30 marks the annual Day of Truth and Reconciliation, nationwide.

Join us at the library for a special showing of the film Indian Horse, on Sept. 27, at 6:30 p.m.

The Stettler Public Library is very pleased to support the Friendship Circle of Stettler in its activities on Sept. 30.

At 10 a.m., meet at the north end of Main Street for a Walk of Remembrance.

Children’s activities and cultural presentations will begin at 1 p.m. at the HUB in the Rec Centre with a drum circle at 2 p.m., followed by local author & speaker Lee Hamelin telling his personal experience of the '60s Scoop at 4 p.m. Also, check out the book display in the library about truth and reconciliation.

There is always so many great things happening at Something Cool After School on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 pm.

On Sept. 26, we’re reaching for the stars with straw rockets. Find out how far yours will soar. Then learn to play all sorts of fun card games on Oct. 1.

Lastly, come to the rescue of your Rubber Duck on Oct. 3. Ages 6 and up.

When school’s out, the library’s in! Come join us for a showing of The Tiger’s Apprentice on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. We won’t forget the popcorn!

Preschoolers (0-5 yrs) will love the stories and songs at Read & Rhyme on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Be sure to ask the staff about 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Track your family reading and receive a small prize each time you reach your reading goals.

Teens & ’Tweens: 

We’ve got a murder to solve!

So sharpen your sleuthing skills on Oct 2 at 4:30 p.m. when we’ll step into exciting characters, puzzle over clues, and work together to discover whodunit! Ages 10+.

Come to Dungeons & Dragons Night Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. for adventure, strategy, and storytelling with a fun group of friends. Ages 13 +. Snacks are always nearby to fuel your quest!

Adults:

Learn the best ways to care for your skin in our harsh, dry climate in a Mary Kay Skincare Class led by Dixie and Shana on Sept 27 at 5:30 p.m. Call to register.

Are you caring for a loved one? Feeling overwhelmed is a common effect of the responsibility. Join the Caregiver Support Group on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. for tips and coping strategies with others on this journey.

There’s still time to take in the “Pretend Foraging in Sleeved Blankets” travelling art exhibition by artist Grace Wirzba currently on display on various walls of the library until Oct. 2.

Make a date with a friend and ponder these fabric art pieces.

Discover your roots to find out who you are and where you come from with Stettler Genealogy Club on Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. Beginner and Experienced researchers are welcome.

Meet with other local writers for a chance to share your writing and receive helpful feedback at Stettler Writer’s Club. Monthly meetings are back starting Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m.
Save your countertops from hot cookware this Thanksgiving with a clothespin trivet you’ll make at Crystal’s Craft Club on Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. Be sure to pre-register by calling the library.

Have you ever wondered about how to publish your memoir, family history book, or a novel you’ve written? Mark your calendar for a self-publishing workshop to guide you through the steps to independent publishing of your own writing with local author Eleanor Bertin on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

You’ve got plenty of time to pick up a copy of Tana French’s novel The Searcher before next month’s rousing Reader’s Circle discussion on Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. “A lot more than just a whodunit mystery.”

All Ages:

Want to start your weekend with a touch of magic? Come to Saturday Story Time each week at 10:15 a.m. for engaging tales and fun activities designed for young listeners and the whole family.

Your last chance to enjoy The Stettler Friends of the Library Society’s Historic Ghost Walk for 2024 is on Oct. 4 or Oct. 5 at 8 p.m.

We take you a stroll back in time in the history of the wonderful town we live in. Some of the stories are inspiring; others are gruesome; and it is perfect for anyone interested in history, ghosts, or both.

The walk is about 1.75 hrs and is perfect for ages 10 and up. Tickets are $10 each and available at the library.
