About 20 students from Stettler schools were honoured last week by Stettler Legion for their top entries in the Remembrance Day literacy contest for last year.
Jayden Hope Whiteside, a Grade 11 student, was the top local winner, with first place in the central Alberta district for senior poems and for essays.
Evelynn Blake in Grade 3 placed second in primary grades for posters in black and white.
“Thank you to all you students who worked so hard,” said Rosalind LaRose, who chairs the contest committee.
“It’s an honour when you win, so congratulations.”
She also commended local teachers for their commitment to the program.
