Legion poster competition winners awarded

The first train of the season will be arriving in Big Valley on Saturday, May 14 around 4 p.m.

BIG VALLEY BULLETIN -- It will be a busy weekend here in the village. The first train of the season will be arriving in Big Valley on Saturday, May 14 around 4 p.m. and leaving around 6 p.m. Keep an eye out for wandering tourists if you are driving around Big Valley at that time. Some of the tourists don't seem to realize we are a regular village with traffic on our streets. Also Big Valley's annual Bust-out Rodeo is on May 13 and 14 at the Agriplex, so watch out for cowboys and horses on the streets, too.

Rodeo action begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 13 and at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. Saturday night's dance will feature live music by Brad Abel & Trouble. This year's rodeo clown is Houston Stewart and along with regular rodeo action, the 12s and under will be participating in the wild pony racing. The 2016 Bust-out Rodeo is in memory of Biff Balcom.

The grand opening of the Big Valley Vintage Tool and Collectibles Museum is on Sunday, May 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a ribbon cutting, speeches, door prizes, and light refreshments

Also on Sunday, May 29 is the Big Valley Elks' annual Memorial Golf Tournament at the Big Valley golf course. Breakfast and registration begin at the clubhouse at 8 a.m. with tee off at 10 a.m. The tournament will be the usual nine-holes, Texas Scramble, followed by beef on a bun and some fun prizes. The Elks invite everyone to come out for a day of excellent golf, great food and good fellowship.
