Ladies’ Night Out attracted more than 100 participants

Gadsby/Westwoods

She’s finally here! Congratulations to Tarah and Donavon Robinson on the arrival of their baby daughter Lincyn Rose, born April 15 in Daysland Hospital. Lincyn was eight pounds ten ounces and 22- inches long. Proud grandparents are Norman and Donna Robinson of Gadsby, Dale Connors of Edmonton and Debby Moar of Drumheller, and our local great grandmother Phyllis Robinson. Mother and daughter are doing well.

Over 100 ladies attended the Gadsby “ladies’ night out” on Saturday night. They enjoyed the meal provided by the ladies night out committee, laughed with the comedian and caught up on what to wear with the fashion show; and lots of prizes were handed out.

Down the street, 42 hungry folk came for supper at the Bank Building. 20 stayed for bingo and still the loonie pot did not go. Next month it will be close to $120. And May will be their annual spring fling, ribs and chicken supper. More details to come.

Last week I reported Tylee Jacobson’s good news. But we should have put he was scouted and accepted to play hockey with the 98 Central Alberta Rustlers AAA team. That is their official name and Rylee was busy this weekend with them in Red Deer.

Denise Jacobson was busy this weekend in Red Willow at the 4-H beef mini show day. She is the leader of the Battle River 4-H beef with 25 kids under her, including two of her own, as well as Joseph and Junae Ventnor, who have been nominated for best achievement awards. Joseph also won first in regional presentation recently, along with Kyle Foor, for their “j & k jerky”. Joseph also flew to Chicago with his dad and on to Minneapolis to attend the John Deere tour. This was a four-day event.

The music festival continued all last week. Sadie and Sophie Diegel along with Kitlyn Glasier all danced ballet last weekend and did very well.

Happy birthday to Cassandra Diegel who turned 10 on April 6. She had a “friends’ night” on April 8 with a sleep over and lots of giggles, a family birthday supper on Sunday night with aunts and uncles, Arden and Deanne and girls, Richelle and Greg and family and Nan and papa (Gloria and Stan).

How many watched Mantracker this week? It was exciting to see the Doan brothers of Halkirk and they outsmarted the tracker. This was filmed in British Columbia. Way to go guys!

A change of plans for the first monthly meeting of the Omega Circle for 2011. The host place will be at Linda Volker’s in Botha on Thursday evening 7:30 p.m. All interested ladies, please come.

Word has come of the passing of Margaret (Taggart) Gainer. Her funeral is Wednesday at the Stettler funeral home. Margaret grew up south of Gadsby, parents Mr. and Mrs. Bill Taggart. Sincere sympathies go to her family.
