Ladies’ bonspiel over, men’s event soon coming up, new time for church service

It was a great turn out for the Women’s Bonspiel last week as 32 teams entered and attended the event. The first event winner was the Jolene Kobi team with Deb Nibourg, Laurel Dole and Michelle Lister.

Second was the Tracy Volker team, third was Sarah Chapman team, and fourth place went to Anita Sutley team.

The second event winners were Karen Armstrong, Wendy Bignel, Brett Bignel, Carly Armstrong. second place went to Andrea Zimmer team, third to Gladys Jackson team, and fourth to Jen Robbins team.

The third event winners were Sheri Morbeck, Toni Squires, Jodi McCord, and Carrie Wilson, with Dale Bauman team in the second place, Donna McKenzie team in third and Pam Connon team fourth.

Thanks to all sponsors and those who donated to help make the curling event great.

The “Curling for Cash” award of $200 went to Toni Squire’s team.

The mens’ bonspiel starts on March 14.

Erskine Curling students took part in the CARA curling tournament and Andrew Nibourg, Adam Standage, Carly Bignell, and Alicia Nibourg came in first in the B event. Jessie Anderson, Carly Armstrong, Tara Schmidt and Amanda Gardner came in second in the B event.

The Erskine United Church service is now at 11 a.m.

Monica Gendre and Joey Standage traveled with their coach Brian Marchett to Lethbridge for rural playoffs in wrestling. Joey came in sixth in his event and Monica won silver. Monica has now qualified to go to provincials.

Joey Standage also qualified for the midget Shock football team in Camrose. He will represent Stettler on this team made up of Grades 9, 10, 11’s. This is a Tier 2 team and they will be traveling to play against teams in Edmonton and Calgary. This is the second year of forming a team like this in Zone 4. This opportunity gives high school players more time to improve and develop their football skills.

Our condolences are sent out to Katie, Darby and Cam O’Neill at the passing of their Dad, Hugh last week. M.S. did not stop Hugh from supporting his children in all of their sporting activities, he was their number one fan. At their Dad’s request there will be no funeral services.

Erskine Book fair is this week, students and parents are encouraged to come in the library to view all the new and fun books that have arrived for this week only.

Parent council was canceled for this month. It will be held again in April.

March 12 is the Grade 9 fundraiser lunch for sale. This week is Kraft Dinner.

March 15 is early Monday.
