Ladies’ bonspiel done, men's this weekend

Last week was filled with lots of fun at the women’s bonspiel.

Thirty-two teams entered and played off for the whole week. Sunday was the wrap-up with Erskine teams doing very well.

A Event winners were:

First: Deneen Brown rink with Daylon Brown skip, Deneen Brown, Dianne Rattray and Brittany Konawalyk

Second: Alesia Risler rink

Third: Karen Armstrong rink

Fourth: Peggy Hearonemus rink

B Event winners:

First: Jolene Kobi rink

Second: Alicia Armstrong  rink

Third: Shallow Well rink

Fourth: Anita Sutley rink

C Event winners:

First: Dianne Palmer rink

Second: Lindsay Thorsean rink

Third: Marg Wells rink

Fourth: Maureen Mailer rink

March 10 and 11 this week is teachers’ convention, so all students get a long weekend break.

March 28 through April 1 is the school’s spring break.

CARA basketball tournament, wrapping up junior high season was held this past week in Stettler, taking in the top eight teams to compete. Our Erskine girls came in fifth, with the boys coming in fourth.

Wm. E Hay Junior varsity girls and boys teams traveled up to Camrose for the final zone basketball tournament. Erskine kids playing on those teams were, Jade Cassidy, Kylie Neitz, and Shayla Neitz,; on the boys’ team was Ty Page, Ricky Armstrong, and Joey Standage. Both teams made it to the consolation final and the boys won theirs coming in fifth with the girls coming in sixth.

Junior high badminton will be starting up in the next couple of weeks.
