Jace continues to inspire

Hopefully everyone was able to make it to the last seniors’ meeting that took place last Monday.

BOTHA BOOSTER -- Hopefully everyone was able to make it to the last seniors’ meeting that took place last Monday, which will be the last one until fall when they start things up again.

Please keep your eyes open for the start up date again in the fall. The committee would like to wish everyone a great summer and hoping to see all the seniors back at these very important meetings then.

Bingo evening is again tonight, starting at 7:15 p.m, doors open at 6:30. So come on out for all the excitement. Bingo will continue throughout the summer months every second Wednesday evening, so please keep this in mind.

There will be two more quilting days before they too close down for the summer months, the first being June 12 starting at 9:30 a.m.The last one will be the last Monday of June, that I know about. So please attend these two dates. Then they will be shutting things down for the summer month as everyone gets busy with their own schedules (summers are busy for everyone) so they close down until sometime towards the end of September.

The last village office meeting until fall will be on Thursday, June 23 starting at 7 p.m., so please attend these very important meetings.

It’s only one and a half weeks away from Father’s Day, so now it’s time to get something planned for your dad for his special day. Father’s Day is June 19.

The Country Gentlemen Band will be playing at the Old-Thyme Dance on Sunday June 26 starting at 1:30 p.m. and you don’t want to miss out. It will be the last dance until fall so make sure you come out and have some fun, open to all age groups.

The theme for this one will be Hawaiian, so please wear a Leis or/and flowers please.

The latest news on Jace Thorsteinson was on May 28, and talk about a fantastic young man. He has such a fantastic attitude towards life, he would like to hand out to everyone regardless of age.

It is “Never give up, even when it’s hard”, and also “The sky is the limit:, “You have to work hard to succeed, “To never take anything for granted” and “Sometimes life throws one big fat, annoying detour sign in your way, but keep going”. A very wise young man for his age.

For his birthday this past month, they celebrated it with a “smoky party”, which means they pulled behind the quad a dummy which they roped and it’s called a Smarty and Jace.

Jace instead of gifts this year wanted a jackpot where ropers paid into the jackpot and this money went into gift cars which were sent to the Ronald McDonalds house for Bingo prizes.

The Thorsteinson family enjoyed playing Bingo games while they were there. So what a great cause to donate to. They all had a fantastic day in spite of the wind.

The next event Jace went through was presenting a speech to a group of kids at the Grandma Shirley 4-H camp at Donalda, watching a slide show, while Jace talked all the way through describing his last eight months at the hospital after his accident last year.

That same weekend Jace and family went to the high school rodeo, where he was presented the Cowboy Spirit Award in memory of Susan Hines, which is a beautiful buckle.

The recipient of this award is someone who has overcome obstacles even when the cards are staked against them, which Jace truly earnt and is still fighting to go through. We in Botha area are extremely proud of this young gentleman.

Jace way to go, keep up all the good work.
