The semester has seen a very busy start.

On Feb. 16, a representative from Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton will be at Wm. E. Hay. All students are welcome to attend the session which will take place during flex time. Students who want additional one-on-one sessions with the representative are able to book an appointment in the office. Similarly, on Feb. 18, a representative from the University of Alberta will be at our school. Student services have been organizing these sessions to provide students with more post-secondary information.

On Feb.19, the students’ union will be hosting a dance with the theme “Valentine’s with a Twist”. Students can dress up in 1950s “Grease” apparel. The dance will take place in the elementary school gym and all students are reminded to bring their ID tags. One dollar from each admission will go to the local Women’s Shelters and the admission is six dollars with a food bank donation.

Ms. Steinbach is organizing a ski trip for students to Nakiska on March 13th. There will be an organizational meeting for interested students to attend on Wednesday, Feb. 10.

On Friday afternoon, a group of 19 Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD) members, and three advisors met together for a SADD retreat. The group had a great time together getting to know each other better, planning their events for the rest of the year, and discussing the ways that they can be examples as SADD members for their friends and family through our ethics presentation. Keep an eye out for SADD in the community - March and April will be very busy months for them.

This week is teacher appreciation week and the school council has been generously thanking the teachers with baking and other goodies.

Stay tuned next week for more news from Wm. E. Hay.
