Homecoming plans progress

Halkirk Herald

The Homecoming committee 2012 met on July 27 and are pleased to report that reunion plans are underway. Reserve the weekend of July 6 to 8, 2012 on your calendar and notify family and friends. 2012 is Halkirks official 100th birthday as a Village and the sequel to Halkirk Home Fires will be launched. Registration forms will be mailed out to residents, past and present, and the committee requests that you return them a.s.a.p. so that they can plan the weekends activities.

Dana and Verna Perry of Calgary are busy moving into the former Louie Engel house. The Perry’s have been part of our community in a part – time capacity for several years. We welcome them as permanent residents.

The weather looks good for the August long weekend and lots of our folks have gone camping at Big Knife Park, Buffalo Lake and Boelke’s Pond.

Melody and Dale Kent were among the 30 plus family who attended the annual Adair family campout in Rosalind last weekend. Nine of the eleven siblings were able to attend.

Irene Schilling attended the 90th birthday celebrations of her cousin, Doris Berg, at Oyen last weekend. Irene’s siblings Ida Hallett from Sherwood Park and Dale and Wilda Nichols of Gadsby also attended.

Less than a month to the Halkirk Bull-a-rama.
