Hockey season wrapped up

Winnie Paulsen was to Edmonton last weekend to watch her granddaughter Kate Paulsen’s team win the gold medal in provincial bantam basketball. Kate is the daughter of Grant and Jacqui Paulsen.

Fred Gardner was able to spend from Thursday to Sunday last week at home on the ranch with Lee. It is his first time back home in six months.

The community extends sympathy to Arny, Debbie and Matt Tateson and Shawn, Jodi, Jackson and Halley Sunstrum on the passing of Debbie’s mother and Shawn’s grandmother, Mrs. Mae Cage, on March 19 at the age of 81 years. The funeral was held in Brooks on Friday. Our thoughts are with the family in their loss.

A fire at the farm of Clayton and Jean Curry last week destroyed some out buildings and their contents, which included some valuable antique items.

Carol Stulberg and Les and Rosemary Stulberg travelled to Edmonton on Tuesday to visit Carol’s sister Verna and Joe Engelman.

Brad and Shellbea Paulsen arrived home Friday from an enjoyable vacation to Mexico, in the Puerto Vallarta area.

Lynnette Schellenberg and Sue Rausch are home from a trip to Las Vegas. Hope your luck was good, girls.

Brianna Dowling was among those performing in the “Starlight Express on Ice” an ice carnival presented by the Stettler Figure Skating Club on Sunday in Stettler. Her mom, Trish Dowling, was in charge of the music for the show.

The Boar’s Cup hockey tournament concluded on Sunday at the arena in Byemoor. In the A event first place went to Calvin’s Finest with second to Licking Pigs. In the B event it was Twisted Testes in first place and the Dirty Rooters in second. This wraps up the hockey season in Byemoor, now the ice will be taken out to get ready for the Bull-a-Rama.

There will be an Easter Service on Sunday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Gopher Head Hill, with everyone welcome to attend.
