Hobby Club back in action, news of relief from Japan

Gadsby/Westwoods

They’re back! The Gadsby district hobby club has come out of hibernation and will be having their first supper of the new year on Saturday night, March 19 at the bank building. Supper starts at 5 p.m. followed by cash bingo at 7:30 p.m. Regular hours, regular prices. And don’t forget the loonie pot.

We have a home connection to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Betty and Vic Perkins’ son Todd and family work and live in Japan and Todd was five stories up and 120 km. from the epicenter when it hit. All reports indicate they are safe.

Birthday greetings go out to Shirley Jacques, who celebrated her 60th birthday with family and friends at Laura and Ray Stevenson’s on Thursday night, March 10.

Daughter Kerri and James Pothier presented Shirley with 60 flower bulbs for her new garden, one for each year. Shirley and Dan moved to Halkirk recently.

Betty Hadwin has returned from a four day visit with daughter Mary, spending some quality time with her granddaughters as well.

And get well wishes go out to Enda (Derr), who is recovering in Foothills hospital in Calgary following a heart attack and procedure.

We hear she will soon be returning home.

Congratulations to great granma Doreen Reynolds on the birth of great granddaughter Cassidy Alexis. Proud grandparents are Jody and Keith Stewart, great grandmother Mary Stewart and parents Aaron and Carlie Stewart. And a big sister for Brooklyn.

Frank and Eleanor Dahlgren went to Darcy and Tammy Hronek’s to celebrate great granddaughter Kayla’s third birthday. There were 15 family and friends for supper.

It looks like we can finally enjoy a warmer month in the making!

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
