High school ‘reduces global footprint’ to mark Earth Day

William E. Hay Composite High School would like to congratulate the badminton players

William E. Hay Composite High School would like to congratulate the badminton players who competed in the Highway 12 tournament last week.

Eighteen of the 22 competitors from Stettler’s high school moved on to play in areas last Friday at Wainwright.

The following students earned the right to play in the zone championships this Saturday in Red Deer: Allyssa Acera, Adam Pitzel, Destiny Croker, Kayleigh Croker, Jordan Bauman, Aeroll Acera, Nicholas Baharally, Taylor Chase and Naoko M. Congratulations to all!

The Red Deer Regional Health Foundation Scholarship is available to the students in the high school. The scholarship is for students who are considering pursuing postsecondary studies in the health-care field this coming fall.

The Eco-Club at the school hosted a Black-Out this past Monday at the school to commemorate Earth Day. The club asked all students to wear black, and encouraged the students to power down their cellphones for the day.

Many of the classes worked throughout the day, with the lights off in order to reduce their global footprint for the day.

It’s that time of year again. Graduation day is coming soon. Tickets for the general public will be available this Friday. If anyone is interested in buying tickets, contact the high school office at 403-742-3466.

Thanks again for tuning into this week’s segment. Stay tuned next Week for more William E. Hay news.
