GADSBY/WESTWOODS NEWS -- Harvest is slow in the Gadsby area due to rain showers. This moisture has however yielded bountiful gardens with bushels of tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkins and much more.

Westwoods Fall Fair was held Wednesday, Sept. 7 with many participants. Congratulations to Leona Carothers who won overall in the vegetables. It was good to see lots of kids' entries. The potluck supper was well attended.

Cody Cassidy is way ahead in first place with Curtis in third overall in the steer wrestling event. Congratulations to Cody who has qualified for Calgary Stampede 2017!

Rick and Debbie Shepherd have a bear harassing the honey hives placed on their land. This bear has also tore up Rick's hunting tent. Not the kind of pet one wants hanging around.

It's good to hear Wayne Glasier has had his second hip surgery, which took place early last week in Camrose hospital. Wayne came home Thursday and is recuperating nicely.

There was a stagette in honor of bride-elect Haley Bigney on the weekend at the Gadsby Ball Diamond with a dozen friends and family attending. Meanwhile, grandparents Fred and Velvet Entwisle entertained granddaughters Cooper and Rowan for the weekend. Everyone headed there for pizza during the rain. Also visiting Fred and Velvet was nephew Tristan Pagura of Kimberley, B.C. Tristan is on his way up north to work.
