Halloween-themed evening at Byemoor Hotel

ENDIANG/BYEMOOR NEWS -- Remember the Byemoor Hotel is hosting a Halloween-themed evening of entertainment on Friday, Oct. 28 at the hotel. The popular and talented duo, Mark Fecho and Heather Brown, will be supplying the entertainment, set to begin at 8 p.m. Those wishing to attend in costume are encouraged to do so. Come out and have some fun and enjoy the music.

About 240 folks from a wide area enjoyed the Byemoor fall roast beef supper on Saturday. Winner of the grocery hamper donated by the Byemoor Store was Janette McCabe of Red Deer and the gift certificate donated by the Byemoor Hotel was won by Doreen McCabe, also of Red Deer.

The Byemoor community club appreciates and thanks all those who supported the supper, volunteered their time, donated food and prizes and organized the annual fundraising event. It is people like you who keep small communities alive and well.

Congratulations to Lacey Gutsche and Ashton Halibut who were married on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Camrose United Church. The reception and dance were held at the Camrose Resort Hotel. Many family and friends joined the happy couple to celebrate their special day. We wish you a marriage filled with happiness, Lacey and Ashton.

Lacey is the daughter of Wes and Karen Gutsche of Endiang and granddaughter of Art and Lucy Gutsche of Hanna.

Some exciting news — The Lilac Room, the teahouse operated by Karyn Tateson and Cattlemunns Gift Shop operated by Rhonda Munns — are re-opening for their fall and Christmas season on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Both are open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and the gift shop is also open the same hours on Sunday. The gift shop is open for Ladies Night shopping during evenings by appointment by calling Rhonda at 403-854-1137. This unique dining and shopping experience is located on Highway 855, about nine miles south of Endiang.

Congratulations are sent to Jim and Shirley (nee Donald) Bates on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, which they marked on Oct. 14. We wish you many more happy years together, Jim and Shirley.

Brad Stiles and Doreen Nixon tied for first place at the Endmoor Drop-In Centre's crib meet on Thursday afternoon. Second went to Jean Mappin. Next crib meet is on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Hugh Kelly who passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16 at the age of 80 years. Hugh's first wife was the late Elaine Grover of Byemoor. Hugh had a musical talent that he often shared in our community at various events and talent nights.

We send birthday wishes to Alf Woelk celebrating his 75th birthday on Tuesday, Oct. 25 and to Olwin Pearson celebrating her 93rd birthday on Sunday, Oct. 30. We hope you enjoy your special days, Olwin and Alf.
