The deadline for accepting your stories for the book, came and went, with many stories missing. However they are still collecting stories and pictures, so keep sending them in. But don’t wait too long, it would be a shame if you missed the printing deadline. Please, if you can talk to others, mention the book and that the stories are due.

The junior high boys basketball team was in Brownfield on Saturday. They lost both their games – the first to Gus Wetter and the second to Coronation. Sheldon Grice and Eric Neilson are the coaches.

Congratulations to Frank and Amy Bates, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday in the Legion Hall in Stettler. They were married on Jan. 28, 1951 in Hanna at the home of Amy’s brother. Three of their four sons, Mike from Gadsby, Pat from Markerville and Dana from Edmonton and their families were among the family and friends attending. Son Tim, who lives in Chile, was unable to come home.

Congratulations to Bonnie (our hairdresser) and her husband Donnie Manson, who became first time grandparents with the safe arrival of Veronica Lyn, born Feb. 5 in Red Deer.

Congratulations to Jenna Nibourg, who recently placed in the top 10 in a North America wide design competition and was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Jenna just returned from an interior design field trip to Toronto.

Sympathy of the community is extended to the family of Brenda Kneeland Bell, who passed away on Feb. 4 in Chilliwack, BC. Brenda is survived by her four children, Shannon and his wife Alisha of Red Deer, Dani of Calgary, Teri of Vancouver and Kelli of Chilliwack. Cathy Kneeland and Tracey (Kneeland) Baughman of Red Deer visited with Brenda last week.

Dale and Mel Kent were among the family members attending the 70th birthday party of Mel’s aunt Sylvia Jones in Stettler on Wednesday.

Keith and Suzanne deMos of Calgary spent the weekend with John and Judy. They were celebrating John and Suzanne’s birthdays.

Visiting with Paul and Jacquie Dietrich was Paul’s nephew from Calgary.

Visiting with Linda and Wally Lehmann was Linda’s son Troy Cipperly, a brief visit before returning to Fort McMurray.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you and your sweethearts. The seniors are hosting their floor curling bonspiel on that day and everyone is invited to stop by to cheer on their favourite team.
