Great turnout at Rumsey Ag Society’s Christmas market

RUMSEY RECORD -- Welcome to the Christmas season. We had a good start to this season with the Ag Society's first annual Christmas market.

RUMSEY RECORD -- Welcome to the Christmas season. We had a good start to this season with the Ag Society's first annual Christmas market. There were many people who came and enjoyed the wares of the 18 vendors. There was a wide variety of products to give the buyers plenty of choice so it was a good start to a new tradition. I would like to send a big thank you to Claire Krywcum and Baylee Nelson for their time and energy spent on organizing this event.

The super league curling will have another full day of curling next Sunday, Dec. 4 if you want to watch some great curling. The concession will be open if you're interested in supporting the curling club and giving the cook a break. They also curl on Friday evenings. This league will be finished soon and the bonspiels will start in January so plan to join in.

Don't forget that there will be a Crib Night at the Drop-In this Wednesday evening, Nov. 30 starting at 7 p.m.; everyone is welcome, singles and couples, we will just make teams with whoever shows up.

The Ag Society will be busy in December, and will be hosting the annual Christmas party with Santa on Dec. 16 starting at 7 p.m. The theme is a Pyjama party with Santa, your young ones (and you, too) will be able to decorate gingerbread cookies and do a craft then have milk and cookies with Santa. There will also be a movie after visiting with Santa. These are just a few of the fun ideas that the committee is working on right now so make sure you plan to come. This is an evening for all ages, not just the wee ones, so everyone can enjoy.

Also on the Ag Society's calendar is the annual general meeting where everyone from the community is welcome to attend and share ideas for the following year. The meeting is scheduled for on Monday, Dec. 12 starting at 7 p.m.

The Morrin 4-H Multi-Club members are asked to bring in their diaries for the Monday, Dec. 5 meeting, as it's time for the leaders to sign off on those.

Lastly, the Elks Turkey bingos will be held in Rumsey on Wednesday, Dec. 7 and the following Wednesday in Big Valley on Dec. 14 starting at 7:30 p.m. These events promises lots of fun and will be a great organization to support. Because of the Turkey bingo, I will be moving the library craft night to Thursday, Dec. 8 starting at 7 p.m. We will be creating a Christmas decoration but remember that your craft ideas are also welcome so bring in what you have been working on and share with the group.

Here's a Christmas joke for you to enjoy:

Q: What did the reindeer say before telling his joke?

A: This one'll sleigh you!
