HALKIRK HERALD -- The Halkirk Prairie Railway Shortline club are back in business for the summer on Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. If the RR crossing lights are flashing on the mini arena, it's open. Everyone is welcome to drop in and say hello.

Congratulations to Devon Johnson on being chosen to be part of the team to represent Zone 4 track and field events at the Alberta Summer Games held in Leduc last weekend. Zone 4 was vibrant in their orange shirts at the opening ceremonies. Their group stayed in a classroom, each girl received a sports bag with the related items for the competition. Devon placed 7th in 100m dash and 7th in 200m dash; 11th in triple jump and 11th in long jump with the relay medley placing 5th.

Castor Crush u12 girls had some close games, learned a lot and had a good time at the provincial ball tournament hosted by Castor last weekend. Toryn Johnson, Parker Slemp and Saige Stewart are the girls with Halkirk connections. J.D. Johnson and Rene (Bunbury) Stewart were the coaches.

Tiana Gamroth was picked up by the Innisfail Indians for provincial U18 fast ball. The girls were unable to win any games.

The Gus Wetter graduating Class of 1976 gathered for a supper and visiting at the Legion on Saturday to celebrate their 40th year anniversary. Halkirk students from that class attending were Yvette (Gonda) Sauve, Debbie Schilling and Aileen (Anderson) Jackson.

Jacquie and Paul Dietrich were in Sundre this weekend to attend the wedding of grandson, Skylar Duncan and his bride elect, Shelby on Saturday, July 23.

Dale and Melody Kent attended the Adair family annual campout in Rosalind this weekend. 40 plus relatives were in attendance.

Aug. 13 -The Elks annual bull-a-rama is coming up fast – If you have visited our community and attended this event in the past, you know this is an action packed rodeo designed to please the whole family. Gates open at 2 p.m.
