Grade 7 and 8 boys return from camping trip, more activities scheduled this week and next

Six Christ King School students were honoured at the Legion this past week for their Remembrance Day Contest entries: Nicole Kennedy won first place in the primary category for black and white poster and former student, Garth MacDonald won second place. Alexis Bogner won first place for her colour poster in the primary category. Marianne Nguyen took first place in the colour poster junior category, while her classmates Amanda O’Donnell and Kodi Nichols placed first and second respectively in the junior poetry category. Congratulations to all.

We were blessed to have the Alix Mac Band visit us on Thursday, May June 3. They played songs from the movie Tarzan, some Disney classics, and the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat as well as the St. Petersburg March. Mrs. Henry, their conductor, also taught us about what kinds of instruments make up a concert band and the students played solos in order to introduce us to their instrument. Our students really enjoyed this fantastic learning opportunity.

Our grade 7 and 8 boys have returned from their camping trip. They hiked to the top of a mountain, saw an icefield and enjoyed beautiful mountain scenery and great weather. We’re glad to have them back.

Some upcoming events are the CARA track meet on Tuesday, Gardening Club on Wednesday and Kindergrad on Thursday, June 10 night at 7 p.m. at Christ King Parish. Also, provincial achievement tests and our final hot lunch are coming up as well as a school council meeting on June 14, at 7 p.m.

See you next week.
