Coming up very soon is the Drumheller and District 4-H show and sale in the Delia arena. The Rumsey - Rowley Beef club are the host club this year and here is a brief outline of the day’s events. At 8 a.m., there will be a pancake breakfast. The female show will be at 9:40 a.m. At 12 p.m., it will be the district judging competition. The steer show will start at 12:20 p.m. At 3 p.m., the district competitions will start. At 5 p.m., there will be a beef supper and awards presentations in the Delia community hall with the sale in the arena at 7 p.m.
Marci Anderson and Jerritt Nemitz of Stettler are planning a July wedding. In honour of this occasion, the community here will be gathering good wishes in the hall on June 16th at 7:30p.m. Anyone wishing to be a part of this event is more than welcome and is invited to attend.
Chris Gerdung and Meredith Rayment, both from Ottawa, were married Saturday, May 28th at the Devonian Gardens near Leduc. I haven’t heard any reports as yet but I’m sure everything was lovely. The rest of the ceremonies were to be in Edmonton. There has been a monetary gathering of good wishes going on throughout the community for the past month and will continue for a while yet as it is felt that not everyone has had a chance to be a part of it all with the late spring.
We’ve had a couple of days now with no rain so maybe those who aren’t already finished seeding will be able to get it done. The Handhills Stampede is coming up next weekend so it would be nice for everyone to be done by then.
Best wishes to Bert Johnson who had the misfortune of breaking his hip a week ago and after an ambulance ride to Red Deer, had surgery to do the repair and back to Drumheller hospital. I’m sure a visit would be in order.
A couple of days to mark on your calendar; August 7th is the date of the 22nd annual Trail Ride for STARS at the TL Bar Ranch on the west side of the Red Deer River at the Tolman bridge. Congratulations to the grade 12 graduates from this area. Tiffany Richmond and Shane Steen were among the students in the 2011 graduating class in Stettler, on May 28th.
The Morrin Graduation ceremonies are set for Saturday June 25th, with the banquet in Rumsey community hall and the rest of the activities in the Morrin Gym.
