Gophers, geese and birds have been spotted in the area; maybe spring is really here, finally

LOUISE BELLAIR

With Easter season, only about a week and a half away (Palm Sunday April 17) it’s hard to believe with all this white stuff still on the ground. Finally, the weather has started warming up some and we see more of the snow disappearing maybe spring is finally here. There sure is starting to be a lot of mud around now, so hopefully the sun will dry things out soon. Apparently, a lot of road bans are going on in a lot of places, so hopefully the roads will start drying out soon, and the bans can be lifted. Gophers, geese and different types of birds have been spotted, so hopefully it’s finally spring after such a long cold winter.

This past week all the school children and staff have had their spring break. Hopefully everyone had a fun and relaxing time journeying their break.

Help is still needed, also donations are being accepted for the upcoming centennial weekend (Aug 12-14). If you could help out for this, or would like to donate, or have any ideas for that weekend, please attend the meeting on Thursday April 14 at 3:30p.m., or contact Josie Hunter at 403-742-2170, Sherri Larter at 403-742-8214, Bob Erickson,or Marie and Dan Barnec. All help or donations are truly appreciated. These meeting are held at the seniors’ centre.

If you have any free time on Friday, April 8 at 8:30, come on out and take in the music from the band called the Country Gold Band. This is a potluck meal, so bring something out to share, and come on out and kick your heels up. This dance is held at the Botha Hall.

On April 11, starting at 9:30 a.m., come out for a great time of Quilting. These are held at the seniors’ centre, every second and last Monday of each month.

Bingo players are all being called out on Tuesday, April 12 at 7:15 p.m. for a great game of Bingo. These are held at the Botha Seniors’ Centre.

Come worship with them at the Botha United Church Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

What are your plans for Monday, April 18? Why not come out at 1:30 p.m. and come out and play a game of military whist at the seniors’ centre. It’s a great way to spend a Monday afternoon, and even if you have never played the game before, they would love to teach you the game. So come on out and have fun.
