Get ready for the 2011 Hivernant Rendezvous

.

Big Valley Bulletin

The Village of Big Valley was busy this past weekend hosting their annual two-day “Live Steam Days” in conjunction with the arrival of the regular tourist trains. Always entertaining and interesting, this event includes displays of small scale steam tractors, steam engines, and lots of odd and unusual “things” that sometimes defy description. Many thanks to the many exhibitors and volunteers who helped to make this event a success.

Parents, don’t forget to enroll your kids in the Big Valley Municipal Library Summer Reading Program which runs every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Come join us for fun games, unique crafts and of course some great books. Don’t forget the “kids only” computer clubs. Friday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. is open to kids 13 and up, and on Saturday mornings, beginning at 9:00 a.m. kids 6 to 12 are invited to join our “Mighty Mice” computer club.

The 2011 Hivernant Rendezvous comes to Big Valley on July 30 to August 1. This annual three day family event is a great opportunity to encounter Metis history and culture.

August 7 brings the 22nd Annual Ride for STARS to this area. Scheduled events include a traditional pancake breakfast, trial rides, poker rally, silent auction, quilt/prize raffle and a BBQ beef supper.
