GADSBY/WESTWOODS -- The first week of December: put up the Christmas tree, light up outside, write Christmas cards, start shopping.
Westwoods annual general meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Westwoods Agriplex with memberships available at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Cody Cassidy is off to a good start winning the first rodeo of the year at the Regina Agribition. Curtis Cassidy also split the first go round. Both in the steer wrestling events.
An exciting birthday for Joyce Hansel. Granddaughter Denee and Jason Davits had a baby girl, Laken Joyce on Thursday, Dec. 1, which was Joyce's birthday. This is the 18th great grandchild for Joyce and Bill. Happy birthday Joyce! Laken was born at the Stettler General Hospital, weighing eight pounds and one-and-a-half ounces. A baby sister for Shaya. Proud grandmothers are Sandra Trenerry and Thelma Davits.
Birthday guests on Thursday at Bill and Joyce's were Gordie and Shirley Reynolds; Joe and Maxine Hansel. Birthday greetings to Bill Hansel whose birthday was Saturday, Dec. 3. Daughter Sandy and Rod from Gibbons Alberta came and took Bill and Joyce out for dinner and to cuddle the new baby.
Get well wishes to Velvet Nickerson who is in Castor hospital fighting double pneumonia. Hopefully she's out by the time of this printing.
Percy and I drove past and through the alley past the Pothiers' place in Gadsby a couple nights ago. I just have to say, if you haven't seen their Christmas light display, you must! Turn up the alley to get the whole effect. They were still receiving Food Bank donations, made voluntarily. The Pothiers' said, "We continue to see five or more cars a night during the week and often more on weekends, we are thrilled so many people are getting a chance to enjoy the lights. We've put up a couple new lights that were late arriving and we are excited and already planning additions for next year."
I am hearing rumblings – there is a New Year's Eve event happening at the Gadsby Hall this year. More details to come.
