GADSBY/WESTWOODS NEWS — An inch of rain has stopped the harvest for a few days. Lightning and thunder was seen and heard in the area. But after seeing a brown weasel yesterday, there is hopes of a long fall.
A fall wedding with beautiful decorations was the theme on Saturday when Richard Kobi and Breanna Ternef (Stettler) were married in the Stettler Community Hall. (It was to be an outside wedding until Mother Nature had other plans). Grandparents of the groom, Frank and Eleanor Dahlgren, were among the guests of honor, as were parents Dwayne and Bonnie Kobi. Sister Kristina Kobi was one of the bridesmaids.
On the groom’s side were aunts and uncles, Elva and Roger McAlister of Innisfail, Brenda Laboucan and sons Ronson and Tyler of Slave Lake, Neal and Lorna Walgenbach and family, Cecil and Pat Walgenbach and family. Cousins Tanner, Megan and Paige from Pincher Creek and cousin Dane, Holly, Aaden and Skye came from Vegerville. A reception and dance followed. A midnight lunch was enjoyed by all.
On Sunday the family met at the hall for breakfast. Everyone pitched in to clean up.
A few names were missed from last week’s wedding. Attending Haley and Nick Dodgson’s wedding were Velvet’s brother Ben Nickerson and wife Kristy, their daughter Quinn and son Nash, and Velvet’s sister Vicki’s daughter Daynen, all from the Cranbrook/Kimberley area.
Westwoods Ag Society is looking for volunteers who would enjoy a fun day and help fill shifts at Cash Casino in Red Deer Oct. 15-16. If interested please call Debbie at 403-883-2717.
Barb and Vic Carey celebrated their 48th anniversary in style, flying to Toronto where they took in two MLB games at Rogers’ Centre. The Blue Jays played New York Yankees. They didn’t win but it was still a thrill to be there. Then they went up to the top of the CN Tower and enjoyed the Niagara Falls where they cruised the base of the falls on the Hornblower Cruise boat. An awesome experience. They took a helicopter ride over the falls as well. Then on to another Jays game against Baltimore Orioles.
Happy Anniversary Vic and Barb!
An early reminder, the Gadsby Omega Circle Bazaar will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 with a change of venue! The bazaar will be held in the Botha Community Hall.
