The class of 5JT made some excellent pill bottle rockets in science class last week. Some of the rockets reached at least 30 feet in the air as the students prepared different concoctions to ensure maximum lift off. The class spent over an hour preparing and executing NASA lift off simulations on Waverly Field.

In Language Arts, the class has just read Island of the Blue Dolphins and will get to watch the 1964 classic on Friday, Oct.10. A special Island of the Blue Dolphins treat has been ordered for the entire class.

All four Kindergarten classes celebrated scarecrow day on Oct. 3. The students made scarecrow faces, crafts and sang songs about scarecrows. Some classes had hidden crows that they had to find a scare away. This was all in a celebration for fall.

SES would like to welcome our student teacher Miss. K. Van Winssen. She is working in Mrs. Sylvester’s Grade 1 class and has done a great job with our kids so far. We are lucky to have her for the next 9 weeks.
