GADSBY/WESTWOODS NEWS -- A million dollar rain was a welcome sight Thursday evening with hopes of a wet long weekend.

Found in the Heart Beat Stettler and Area May issue: Home Town Trivia: “In 1970, the Erskine 4H Light Horse Club sponsored a ride-a-thon from Botha to Erskine. What lady took her five children and completed the eighteen mile ride?” The answer was Eleanor Walgenbach (Dahlgren) and her five children were Elva, Neal, Brenda, Cecil and Bonnie. On Saturday May 15, Eleanor joined the family for the first gymkhana of the year in Stettler with 63 entries. She watched family members Tammy, Kayla, Luke Hronek, two-year-old Mia Walgenbach and one-year-old Nash Sorenson participate. When asked, Eleanor said this makes three sets of four generations of gymkhana participants and too many events to try to count.

Get well wishes to Wayne Glasier who is recuperating from hip surgery on Monday. Wayne is home, from Camrose hospital, as of Thursday and doing well.

Best wishes to Corrie and Gerard Fryters, who have moved into Paragon Place recently.

The ladies of the Omega Circle met at the home of Morag (Jim) Gallion on Thursday night, just as the rain began. They are pleased to report that Dale and Melody Kent will be caretaking for the cemetery again. Flower planting will happen June 6 weather permitting.

The Village of Gadsby has a new lawn mower and new employee as well. The silent auction for the old mower, vac truck, etc was a success with all items sold.

A reminder, June 9 is county/village fruit tray at Heritage Place, Saturday market that weekend. Vendors still welcome. More details to follow.
