Folks in Endiang ring in the new year and new decade

Endiang, Jan. 4, 2010 – It’s hard to believe the first decade of the new millennium is behind us as we bid farewell to 2009.

Endiang, Jan. 4, 2010 – It’s hard to believe the first decade of the new millennium is behind us as we bid farewell to 2009.

We can only hope that 2010 will be a much better year for the farming community and the oil and gas sector than last year was. It’s that time of year for New Year’s resolutions as well, so hopefully everyone can stick to theirs.

The New Year’s Eve dance in Endiang saw a good turn-out ring in the New Year and there were lots of door prizes handed out that were generously donated by local sponsors. The music was supplied by Lori Blake of Hanna.

We caught up with a few more of the happenings during the holidays and found out that:

Sandi Hodgeson of Melfort, Sask. spent about a week during the holidays with her daughter Twila and Kirk Buchwitz and family.

Jim Groundwater, Brandi Groundwater and Annika spent Boxing Day with Jim’s sister Geraldine and Ron Stimson at their acreage east of Lacombe.

Irene Brooker accompanied Ernie and Brenda Ziegler of Hardisty to Calgary to spend Christmas with her granddaughter Tara and Dominic. On Sunday Irene was in Hanna to visit her mother Eleanor Aaserud and her sisters Shirley (Jim) Lumsden, Lynn (Steve) Anderson visiting from Swift Current and Bev (Mike) Schillinger visiting from Wetaskiwin.

Brad and Shellbea Paulsen and family spent Christmas in Sask. with Shelli and Clint Oxtoby.

Wayne and Patsy Gallagher of Tulliby Lake were Christmas visitors with Rod and Krissy Jack and girls.

Rhonda Munns, Kay Dee Harper and a friend spent Christmas and New Years in Costa Rica visiting with Bud’s sister.

Larry and Lorene Stulberg along with Dick and Ann Creasey of Halkirk have returned from a week-long holiday to Cuba.

Congratulations to Kelly and Bobbi Buchwitz on the birth of their second son, Benjamin Rush, on Dec. 28 in Drumheller. Benjamin weighed in at 7 lbs. 2 oz. and is a little brother for Sullivan. Congratulations also to the grandparents Dave and Luann Buchwitz and Doug Carmichael and great-grandparents Nat and Alvina Buchwitz and Lou and Ria Lohrmann.
