Folks flocked to Mother’s Day pancake breakfast

Last week brought more snow to the district and we were covered in a white blanket for several days as temperatures were not warm enough to melt it. It seems like the weather we are getting is more like March weather than May.

There was a power outage on Tuesday morning, therefore the school was closed and no busses ran that day.

The members of the Scapa Ladies Aid recently held their meeting and a luncheon in Endiang at the restaurant.

Congratulations to Ryan and Jaclyn Gallagher of Hanna on the birth of their first child, daughter Ava Rose, born on Apr. 22. Congratulations also to the local grandparents Gordie and Roxie Gallagher.

Some ladies gathered at the Hotel in Byemoor on Friday to honour May Wills with a bridal shower.

Congratulations to Terry Gallant who celebrated her 65th birthday on Saturday. Hope you had a great birthday Terry and enjoy those senior discounts and government cheques.

Saturday visitors with Sonny and Terry Gallant were Terry’s 101-year-old aunt Dorothy Grott and Dorothy’s daughter Marilyn and granddaughter Lisa.

History buffs will note that May 8 marked the 65th anniversary of V.E. Day (Victory in Europe), the end of the Second World War.

Some local folks took in the slo-pitch tournament at Linda Hall on the weekend.

About 85 people enjoyed the Mother’s Day pancake breakfast at the Endiang Hall on Sunday. Eleanor Schultz won the door prize, a potted plant, and the 50/50 draw was won by Les Stulberg. We hope all the mothers enjoyed Mother’s Day and were pampered a little on their special day.

Bruce and Kate Woelk were to Medicine Hat on the weekend to visit with family there.

Some of the local girls participated in the dance revue held in Hanna on Sunday evening.

Wayne and Patsy Gallagher of Tulliby Lake were down to watch their granddaughters perform there.

On Wednesday, May 19, there will be a farm sale for Danny and Joan Grover at their farm one mile north of Endiang. The Grovers will not be leaving our community as they have kept their home quarter, but have sold the rest of their land.

Keep in mind the town clean-up in Endiang on Tuesday, May 25 at 7 p.m.
