Folks escape snow with trips to south of border - Endiang Enterprise

Congratulations to Anita Mappin who was one of two Albertans inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame in Red Deer Saturday, Jan. 14 .

Mappin has been involved with the 4-H program in various capacities for more than 20 years and is currently the Alberta representative on the Canadian 4-H Council. She said she was thrilled to receive her award personally from the Alberta Agriculture Minister Jack Hayden.

Rod and Lynnette Schellenberg and their granddaughter Dakoda recently returned home from Gladstone, Manitoba where they visited with family members.

Dave Longshore and daughter Tanis Longshore are home from Denver, Colorado where they participated in the National Western Stock Show. They showed six head of their purebred Red Angus cattle and with excellent results, all placed from first to fourth in class. Tanis said, “We met a lot of awesome people and are definitely looking forward to next year.”

The Byemoor Hutterite colony has split and 14 families have moved to their new colony near Rosalind. These folks have been good neighbours and we wish them well in their new location.

Dale and Florence Tucker arrived home Monday from Denver, Colorado where they visited with son Darcy and Shannon Tucker and the grandchildren Owinn, Cole and Cane. Darcy has retired from his NHL career but is working towards becoming a player’s agent and he also is coaching his young son’s hockey team.

Sympathy is extended to Bernice Zeimer and Carol Stulberg on the loss of their youngest sister Verna Engelman, who passed away Jan. 13 in Edmonton.

Erin Grams was honoured with a bridal shower on Sunday evening at the Endiang Hall. About 25 ladies braved the cold, wintery weather. Erin and Dustin Weinzierl will be married Feb. 5 in Stettler.

Some local folks have escaped the cold weather with trips to warmer destinations. Dara Green and Cody Hallett were in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Doreen, Eugene and Becky Nixon were in Las Vegas.

Congratulations to a former Byemoor resident, Len Schofer, on his 85th birthday. He is celebrating this milestone Jan. 22 with a tea from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Anglican church in Stettler.
