Rural Crime Watch App Program launched in Endiang area

Ladies interested in getting out for an evening of exercise are welcome to join BooTy in Byemoor, a program that connects mind, body and soul. Hosted by Kae-Lynn Sorensen, the program is set for July 30 at the Byemoor School from 8-9 p.m.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Keith Blackman on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Keith was the guest of honour at a celebration at Keith and Anne’s acreage on July 14. Best wishes for many more happy birthdays, Keith.

Buck and Gage Hutton and Rob and Hunter Maginn enjoyed a fishing excursion to the Tahsis, B.C. area. There they did some deep-sea fishing off the coast bringing in halibut, red snapper, salmon and other fish making for a great trip.

Gordie and Roxy Gallagher, Dale and Dee Green and Doug and Lori Roberts enjoyed a camping excursion to various points. Some of the highlights included North Battleford, SK, the Columbia Ice Fields, Glacier Sky Walk and the Rocky Mountain House area.

Happy 87th birthday wishes are sent to a one-time resident of Endiang, John Kisser, on July 19. We wish you many more happy years, John.

Happy 65th birthday wishes go out to a couple of former Endmoor girls. Wanda (nee Nixon) Wilkie celebrated this milestone birthday on July 21 and Sandy (nee James) Fehr blows out her 65 candles on July 31.

On Aug. 1, former Endiang resident Art Gutsche celebrates his 88th birthday. Enjoy your special day, Art.

Congratulations to Endmoor’s Sydney Jack who was a member of the Under 16 Stettler girls’ ball team that won the gold medal in the “C” division provincials on July 14-15 in Calahoo.

Sydney and her sister Jesse, who was also a provincial gold medal winner, had a very winning ball season.

Congratulations to Levi Stahl and Rebecca Waldner of the Byemoor Colony who were married on July 22 at the colony where both were raised.

We wish this young couple all the best for a long and happy marriage.

Don’t forget the Big Valley Bust-Out Rodeo on July 27-28 with 7 p.m. performances each evening.

Big Valley Fire Department is hosting a couple of fundraisers in conjunction with the rodeo — a steak supper on July 28 from 5-8 p.m. and a pancake breakfast on July 29 from 8:30-11 a.m.

The Big Valley Fire Department is also hosting its annual Slo-pitch tournament July 27-29.

The 15th annual Métis Hivernant Days is set for Aug. 3-5 in Big Valley and is a wonderful opportunity to discover Métis history and culture. Events kick off Friday at 4 p.m. meeting the Steam Train flying the Métis flags followed by dancing, story telling, musicians and snacks at the Jubilee Hall. Saturday activities include a breakfast, opening ceremonies, sash weaving, fiddle lessons, capote making, bannock making contest, beading project, children’s games and crafts, drum making, voyageur games, a supper and dance.

A breakfast starts off the Sunday activities followed by voyageur games and a talent contest featuring jigging, singing and fiddling. For more information contact Doreen Bergum at 403-638-6384.

Mark your calendars for night golf sponsored by the Big Valley Golf Course Society on Aug. 18 and also the Big Valley Memorial Golf Tournament on Sept. 8.
