BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS -- School doors opened on Monday, Aug. 29 in the Clearview School Division and students are back at their desks at the Byemoor School.

Staff remains the same as last year Corey Van Zandbergen, principal; with teachers Gwen Keith and Mandi Rietmann, Linda Kobi, secretary-librarian and Erin Wilkie, teacher aide. Paige Jones is the pre-kindergarten instructor.

School bus drivers also remain the same with Sandra Keith and Rosemary Stulberg driving the local routes and Anita Mappin driving the high school bus to Stettler.

On Monday morning, the students and bus drivers were treated to a big breakfast at the Byemoor School by the staff.

The Byemoor Slo-pitch tournament received good coverage in the local newspapers. Robin Walker and her parade entry made the front page of the Hanna Herald. Of interest to readers in that area, Robin was the former Robin Cosgrave of the Hand Hills and her mother Bernice Cosgrave was riding with her in the parade.

We extend sympathy to the family of Jean (nee Carmichael) Seidlitz, who passed away on Aug. 15 in Red Deer at the age of 73 years.

Jean was raised south of Byemoor, the eldest child of George and Mary (Nixon) Carmichael.

Jean is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Barber, Juanita Dayton and Jolene Seidlitz (Greg Kostinuk); and three siblings, Doug Carmichael (Jane Kobi), Doris Kissel (Allen) and Margaret Kurtz (Miguel Rojas).

Our thoughts are with the family in their time of loss.

A correction to last week’s column, Don Gannon is not yet a resident of Points West Living in Stettler, but it is hoped he will be able to take up residency there sometime soon.

Some local folks took in the Country Music Jamboree at Big Stone on the weekend. Former Endiang residents Irene Brooker, Donnie Johnson and Shirley Lumsden were among the performers.

Anniversary wishes and congratulations are sent to Wes and Karen Gutsche, who celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sept. 5. Best wishes for many more, Wes and Karen.

Krissy Jack, her girls and other helpers, operated their specialty coffee booth at Global Fest in Calgary. The international fireworks festival ran from Aug.18-27.

Farmers are in need of some good harvest weather following more rain on the weekend. An Indian Summer is what is needed to get the crops in the bin.
