GADSBY/WESTWOODS NEWS -- I hope everyone took a few minutes on Remembrance Day to stop and reflect on what our veterans have done for us.

The Big Knife 4-H Beef Club met at Dale and Corina Derr's for the annual weigh-in of the calves. Everyone was excited to have this event in Derr's newly renovated barn. The pictures on Facebook look great. And so begins another year of hard work and dedication for 4-Hers and their leaders.

Happy seventh birthday to Cooper Bigney who celebrated on Monday, Nov. 7 with a swim party and birthday cake. Grandparents Fred and Velvet and Edie Young were present at the event, as were Melanie Dodgson, Jason Davits, Shaya and Denee; Mareena and Piper; Tom and Angela, Kali and Kameron; Leigha and a table full of young friends. Mom Haley hosted the event earlier than Cooper's actual birthday which was this past Wednesday, Nov. 10.

Birthday greetings to Jeanne Beisel, who is 70 plus some and enjoyed a birthday visit out to Percy and Paulette's.

Four-day visitors at the home of John and Jewel Heer were Jewel's parents Wallace and June Winter from Burstall, Sask. The weather was warm enough that they were able to bring their fifth wheel and enjoy one last camp out this year. They enjoyed time with their grandchildren, Hannah and Bailey, camping, shopping, as well as an afternoon visit with Percy and Paulette.

Proud grandparents Vic and Barb Carey enjoyed "a great game on a lovely fall day" while they watched grandson Jonah Jarmin and his team the Stettler Cougars win their game to take home the Central Alberta tier 3 division championship. Great news guys!

The Gadsby Community Hall is the place to be for parents and tots as ParentLink hosts literary fun with Kim Tanner from 1:30-3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18. This will be happening every second Friday from this date. Everyone is encouraged to take part. There will be a family potluck supper at the hall on Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 4-7 p.m. in conjunction with ParentLink.

It's past mid-November already, so let's get serious about Christmas. Here's a reminder that there will be a Christmas light up this Saturday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Pothiers. Head for 5th Street if you are looking for the house, with 35,000 plus lights being lit, it will surely be a wonderful sight. There will be hot dogs and hot chocolate available. Volunteer donations will also be received on behalf of the Stettler Food Bank. Hosting this event is James and Kerri Pothier and they tell me this is an event worth coming to see. Bring your kids, grandkids and a camera. Parking and bathrooms available at the Hall.

The Gadsby Community Hall is hosting the annual Santa Claus Day on Sunday, Dec. 4, more details to follow in the coming week, so keep watching out for more information.

This week we also welcome Larry Derr into our midst in the Gadsby community as he is busy getting ready to move his mobile home in.
