The Family Day Family Funspiel hosted by the Byemoor Curling Club on Feb. 17 brought out 12 family teams despite the cold weather.
Winning the ‘spiel was the team of Herbie Gallagher, his mother Jaclyn Gallagher and his grandparents Gordy and Roxy Gallagher.
Throughout the day various other games such as mini-golf, corn hole and paper airplane toss were enjoyed by the younger set. It was a very successful day, enjoyed by all those participating.
The arena in Byemoor was also busy on Family Day as the Endmoor U7 hockey team hosted the Hanna U7 team, in their last home game of the season.
A good number of folks took in the Community Potluck Supper held at the Endiang Community Hall on Feb. 21. All those attending enjoyed the vast assortment of delicious foods and desserts and the opportunity to catch up on visiting with the neighbours.
Congratulations to the curling team of Jim Krautt, Tyler Stulberg, John Schofer and Eugene Nixon on winning second in the ‘A’ event final at the Castor Farmer’s Bonspiel that wrapped up on Feb. 22. The team only had one loss in the whole bonspiel and a nail-biter last end in the final game.
Justin and Kristina Jones and family along with Bruce and Val Mappin enjoyed a snowmobiling excursion to the Crowsnest Pass area. They also participated in a snowmobile poker rally with a supper at the Crowsnest Golf Club.
Several folks from the Endiang – Byemoor area took in one of the performances of “Steel Magnolias” presented by Castor Little Theatre at the Castor Community Hall. They are a talented small-town group actors who annually put on an entertaining production complete with a lovely catered meal. Kudos to all involved.
Curling fans be sure to come out and support the curlers in the Byemoor Closing Bonspiel that runs from Feb. 25 – March 1. It’s the last bonspiel of the season for the Byemoor Curling Club.
During the winter months is a good time to start planning your parade entries for the Byemoor Centennial Celebration parade, happening on Saturday, June 7.
This is a special milestone for the community so let’s celebrate it in style. It is hoped family farms, area organizations and clubs, families, children, neighbouring communities, businesses and just anyone who wishes will make this the best parade ever. Cattlemen, keep in mind the Mappin Simmentals / Silver Smith Farms 20th annual Bull Sale on Saturday, March 1 at 4 p.m. at their farm west of Byemoor.
Don’t forget the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake supper, hosted by the Church at Endiang, is coming up on Tuesday, March 4 at the Endiang Community Hall. Supper is served from 4 – 6 p.m. with the assistance of students and staff of the Byemoor School. Admission is by donation, and as in the past, all proceeds go to the Byemoor School for school programs.
