The drought continues in our area and many crops are being plowed down, pastured or cut for feed.
Some trees are beginning to turn color already, and it’s only July! It appears that it is going to be “next year’s country” again.
Jim and Maureen Wasdal flew to Meadow Lake, Sask. in Jim’s plane for the chuckwagon races there last weekend. They are supporters and fans of long-time friend Neal Walgenbach who was racing there.
Shelly Schellenberg and her twins Dayne and Cole spent a week visiting her dad at Rich Valley, AB. Shelly’s sister was also visiting from Europe.
On July 28, Lee Hunt travelled to DeWinton to pick up her sister-in-law Connie Hunt and they went to celebrate Ruth Hunt’s 92nd birthday at Airdrie. Ruth’s brother Rev. Dick Hunt and his son Tim of Maple Ridge, B.C. also attended the occasion. Congratulations to Mrs. Hunt on marking this milestone and best wishes for many more happy birthdays.
Recent visitors with Fred Gardner were his daughter and granddaughter Cindy and Courtney Bartman of Brooks.
Congratulations to Jaymie Wasdal and Travis Clouston of Spruce Grove on the birth of their son William Arthur Edson, born on July 29 in Edmonton and weighed in at 8 lbs. 1 oz. Congratulations also to first-time grandparents Murray and Kim Wasdal, first-time great-grandparents Art and Dot Wasdal and great-grandma Winnie Paulsen.
Carol Stulberg, Les and Rosemary Stulberg, Bernice Zeimer and Linda Smith travelled to Edmonton on Thursday to visit Bernice and Carol’s sister Verna Engelman who is ill.
Byron Wilkie celebrated his 40th birthday with a surprise party at the Byemoor Hall on Saturday evening. Happy birthday Byron and enjoy being the newest member of the “over the hill” gang.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Ruby Litke who passed away in Hanna on July 16 at the age of 76 years. Ruby and her late husband Herb Litke farmed in the Annashiem district south of Endiang from 1956-1974, near where Herb and Betty Bossert live today.
Many local country music fans took in the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose on the long weekend.
