Erskine’s overpass did it again

The Chinook came in with warm weather this week and was a nice turn around from very cold and snow.

The Chinook came in with warm weather this week and was a nice turn around from very cold and snow. The overpass just east of Erskine helped put another vehicle in the ditch on its ever famous icy road last Sunday as one car slid off the road coming down from the over pass. The car rolled into the slough at the bottom, pushing snow into the car as the windows smashed out. Mother and children were OK but it was hard for passersby to see the car in the ditch as the slope is so steep. Once drivers noticed them they quickly ran with blankets to wrap around the children until the ambulance arrived.

The Erskine boys and girls basketball teams hosted Big Valley last week. The girls were able to pull it off with a win, but the boys weren’t so lucky and lost to Big Valley.

Today Erskine hosts Byemoor for the next divisional basketball game.

Don’t forget the troop in Afghanistan that Erskine school has adopted. All goods are due today. The school is collecting Tim Horton’s cards, CDs, DVDs old and new, crystal light packages, Kraft dinner and soups that just need water to be added to them, granola bars, beef jerky, magazines, puzzles, cross word books and anything else that can be shipped easily and has a long storage life.

The next family fun spiel will be held on Feb. 14. To enter call the rink and leave a message. The first 12 teams entered will get to curl.
