Recently the 4-H Beef District had our Achievement Days. Female Day was on May 22, and in our club we had three heifers. Kayla Robertson placed first, Rayell Haustein placed second, and Lowell Van Straten placed third.

Our club also had one cow calf pair owned by Rayell Haustein. Steer Day was May 23. Club Grand Champion steer was Lowell Van Straten’s and Gracie Morbeck’s was Reserve.

As some of you may know this year was 4-H Alberta’s 100th year. In tribute to the 100th year, our club decided to do some family history for part of our stall display.

The Erskine 4-H Beef Club was founded in 1949, by Richard (Dick) Gabriel, who was a great great grandfather to the Hausteins. He was also involved with setting up the District Achievement event that we all participate in. He also started the pen of five competition, and gave out a trophy that carried on year after year.

Now his daughter and my great grandma Connie (Gabriel) Haustein keeps that tradition going. We also had an old club sign that was stored in my grandparents’ old barn at our stall.

On behalf of the Erskine 4-H Beef Club, I would like to say a special thank you to all our sponsors, buyers, and supporters. The Club and District wouldn’t be the same without them! They make our Achievement Day a success!

Year-end wind up will take place this summer once school is out, and we will keep you updated.
