Endmoor produces good dancers

ENDIANG/BYEMOOR -- Several Endmoor folks were among the sold-out crowd that took in Hanna's Dancing with the Stars on Saturday evening.

ENDIANG/BYEMOOR -- Several Endmoor folks were among the sold-out crowd that took in Hanna's Dancing with the Stars on Saturday evening in Hanna. Congratulations to Endiang's Nolan Groundwater, one of the dancing stars and his instructor Katie Campbell, on winning second place in the competition.

Of interest, three of the competition's professional dance instructors have their roots at Endiang and Byemoor: Katie (Knowles) Campbell, Nadine (Gallagher) Hein and Terri (Coulthard) Simpson. Many hours of practice and hard work went into the show.

Birthdays abound at Byemoor and Endiang.

Congratulations to Bob Green on celebrating his 90th birthday with a social at the Stettler Agriplex on Sunday. Bob was a longtime Byemoor resident before retiring to Stettler. A large number of family, friends and neighbours joined Bob in celebrating his special milestone. We wish you many more happy birthdays, Bob.

Endmoor school chums and friends of Sheila Pogmore of Calgary met in Drumheller on Friday to help Sheila celebrate her 60th birthday. Endmoor friends included Florence Tucker, Maureen Wasdal, Brenda Jones and Shannon Knowles.

Lee and Christine Tucker celebrated their 50th birthdays with a vacation to Cancun, Mexico. They each celebrate their half-century milestones this year, Lee in January and Christine in August.

Several friends and family of Verla Buchwitz joined her at her café in Endiang on Saturday to help celebrate her birthday. Lynda Wilkie brought in a birthday cake for all to enjoy.

Several seniors well-known to the Endiang-Byemoor community mark some special birthdays in February. Birthday wishes go out to: Feb. 1 – Buster Walker, 89; Feb. 1 – Eileen Green, 87; Feb. 3 – Bob Green, 90; Feb. 7 – Eleanor Schultz, 80; Feb. 8 – Lucy Gutsche, 82 and Feb. 10 – Mickey Pearn, 90. Hope you all have fantastic birthdays.

Marjorie Sorensen will be honoured by her family with a birthday celebration on the occasion of her 70th birthday on Feb. 21 at the Endiang Hall. All are welcome to attend the social which goes from 1 to 4 p.m.

It was the ladies' turn to shine at the Endmoor Drop-in Centre's crib night on Tuesday. Top score went to Eleanor Schultz while Mickey Tucker nabbed second spot. Remember, crib goes every Tuesday evening now.

Several friends of Gloria Rabb gathered at the café in Endiang on Wednesday evening to bid farewell to Gloria as she leaves our community. Gloria has moved to Airdrie. Her quiet, kind and gentle nature will be missed. We wish Gloria all the best in her new location.

Byemoor School students enjoyed Alberta Opera's performance "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" at Erskine School on Thursday. They traveled by bus driven by Rosemary Stulberg. On Friday, the students traveled by bus driven by Christa Neufeld to take in a Red Deer Rebels hockey game.

We send get well wishes to Deanna Johnson, who had a stay in a Calgary hospital and to Nat Buchwitz in the Hanna hospital. Hope you are both feeling well.

Kirk and Twila Buchwitz and boys enjoyed a visit from Twila's dad Larry Hodgson from Melfort, Sask.

We extend sympathy to Kirk and Twila Buchwitz and family on the passing of Twila's aunt Irene Schellenberg. Twila's dad cut his visit short to attend the funeral in Saskatchewan on Saturday.

Remember the turkey supper at Ruthie's Roost café in Endiang is on Sunday, Jan. 31. Turkey suppers are held the last Sunday of each month at the café.

Be sure to treat your sweetheart this Valentine's and what better way than to take in the Byemoor Hotel's Valentine party on Friday, Feb. 13 with the evening entertainment of Mark Fecho.

The Endmoor / BigValley Swordmen hockey team's next provincial playoff game is in Byemoor on Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. These young players need your support to keep going.
