BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS — Congratulations to former Endiang resident, Shannon Lawlor, on the honour of being selected to create the Calgary Stampede’s official 2017 poster. The poster was unveiled in Calgary on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at a private function and will be unveiled publicly in November.

The poster was created to look like something from the early 1900s rather than present day. The canvas painting features heavy horses and a border of 130 iconic western brands along with the logo and name of the Calgary Stampede.

Shannon is an incredibly talented artist and has had her paintings in the Calgary Stampede’s Western Art Show for the past eight years.

While she was at Endiang, Shannon designed the cover of Endiang’s history book as well as some of the illustrations in it.

Good work Shannon and congratulations on this honour and stepping stone in your career.

Lyle and Shannon Knowles enjoyed a visit to Victoria, B.C. to visit with Murray and Audrey (nee Ackerman) Noel, George and Peggy (nee Ackerman) Byatt and other members of the Byatt family.

Endmoor floor curlers participated in the bonspiel in Stettler on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Doug Harrold, Bennie Kobi, Joan Morrison and Carol Stulberg were happy to bring home a second place winning in the third event.

We bid farewell to Jack and Vi Grams who have moved from their farm at Endiang to Paragon Place lodge in Stettler. Jack and Vi were active community members during the many years they farmed here.

We wish Jack and Vi all the best in their new surroundings.

Former Byemoor resident, Norm Kelly, also has moved to Paragon Place. Norm operated the Byemoor garage for many years before retiring to Stettler. We wish you all the best in your new location, Norm.

The Byemoor 4-H beef club members will be holding their weigh-in on Sunday, Nov. 6. There is still time to find a calf and enter. Call Tara Schilling at 403-323-0462 or Suzanne Sorensen at 403-741-8747 for further information.

There was a joint memorial funeral service and interment at St. Peter’s Lutheran church and cemetery on Saturday for Reinhold Fecho and his son Terry Fecho. Terry’s mother, Frieda (nee Nill) Fecho is also buried there.

Be sure to book your tables early to market your crafts and wares at Santa Claus Day in Byemoor, to be held on Saturday, Dec. 3. Call Twila at 403-579-3755.

We send 80th birthday wishes to Winnie Paulsen on Sunday, Nov. 6. Winnie celebrated her special birthday early with a family trip to Seattle, Washington to take in some Blue Jays games.

Congratulations on reaching this special milestone Winnie and best wishes for many more.

We also send birthday wishes to Lee Hunt on the occasion of her 83rd birthday on Wednesday, Nov. 9. We hope you enjoy your day, Lee.

Humour for the day — “Did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off? He’s all right now.”
