Endiang is the place to be this weekend

BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS -- The Byemoor Slo-Pitch Tournament is coming up this weekend. Be sure to take in some of the fun. The itinerary is as follows:

Friday night the fireworks go at dark.

Saturday morning kicks off with a pancake breakfast from 8-10:30 a.m. at the community hall; followed by the parade at 11 a.m. Parade judging is from 10-11 a.m. at the arena. This year’s parade theme is “Why our small town rocks” with all entries welcome.

The Kids’ Carnival runs from noon until 3 p.m. at the arena with a variety of activities for the younger set.

A beef-on-a-bun supper will be served at the hall from 5-8 p.m.

The dance goes from 9 p.m. 2 a.m. at the arena, with free admission before 10 p.m.

Sunday morning begins with a pancake breakfast at the hall from 8:30-11 a.m. The 32-team slo-pitch tournament finals wrap up Sunday.

Please note, the Byemoor Hotel will not be having its regular pizza night on Saturday, Aug. 20 in support of the Ag. Society’s beef-on-a-bun supper at the hall.

Tania LaRose and Shawna (Wallace) Benson have returned home from a fun-filled trip to Las Vegas, where they celebrated Tania’s 35th birthday.

Derek Green celebrated his 35th birthday with a motorcycle excursion across southern B.C. to Osoyoos. He was accompanied by friends Curtis and Corrin Roberts.

Keep in mind the potluck supper at the Scapa Hall on Saturday, Aug. 20 beginning at 4 p.m. Meat will be supplied, just bring your favorite potluck dish.

The evening recognizes June Mattheis, Ken and Peggy Sauter and Rob and Carol Wiens who are leaving the Scapa community.

Jesse Jack spent an enjoyable week in Ottawa, Ontario with friends.

Rob and Rhonda Maginn and Hunter enjoyed a visit from Rob’s dad Bob Maginn from St. Thomas, Ontario. Bob’s stay was about two and a half weeks.

The Maginns also enjoyed a stay at their cabin at Fishing Lake, Sask. They were joined by Rob’s dad, sister and brother-in-law from Ontario, as well as friends from Ontario, Calgary and Saskatchewan for a great 12 days.

We send happy 65th birthday wishes to Sena (Boss) Walker on Aug. 22. We hope you enjoy those government cheques, Sena.
