Elks hold annual lamp hanging - Halkirk Herald

A dozen or more Elk members and their spouses gathered Saturday evening for their annual lamp-hanging get together.

This year they visited the home of Mary Stewart, a new Elk member. The keepsake lamp, shaped as a bell, is a relic of the past and will hold a place of honor in Mary’s home until next year’s lamp hanging party.

Sandra Johnson and Amy Nitschke each had teams in the Castor ladies’ bonspiel this past weekend. Both skips curl in Castor in the regular draws. The Dan Fowler foursome were entered in the Red Deer Oilmen’s bonspiel for the first time and came up against some excellent curling.

Our school students will enjoy a school holiday on Friday and Monday, which is equivalent to a semester break.

The quilting group will be meeting every Wednesday at 4:30 in the seniors’ centre. Interested parties can contact Virginia Duke or Sharon Land for more details
