HALKIRK HERALD — Tony and Clara Nibourg have been travelling to local communities talking about the solar panel system that they have set up on their farm. They have been to Big Valley, Castor and to Stettler twice and are off to Lacombe shortly to speak to farmers and ranchers interested in a holistic management program. Clara received a certificate in renewable energy and conservation from the Lakeland College in Vermillion last year.

Congratulations to Brittany and Daniel Kaiser of Breton on the arrival of their first child, an 8 lb. 8 oz. baby boy, Renim Daniel, born on Wednesday, Jan. 4 in Edmonton. This is the second grandbaby for Darcy and Andrea Mabbott and also the second great-grandchild for Ron and Melva Mabbott.

Rocky and Louanne Dalmer and Katelyn, Alison and Ty, Ryan and Lindsey joined Ralph and Norma Stock and Vicky from Gull Lake, Sk. for a week’s holiday in Varedaro, Cuba. They spent one day in Havana but spent the rest of their time on the beautiful beaches and in the pools. It was a memorable holiday in that their luggage arrived three days after they did.

Ben and Lana Chitwood from near Saskatoon, Sk. visited with Rick and Lisa Kent to celebrate the arrival of 2017.

Charles and Bernita Muncy celebrated an early New Year’s at the Edmonton Oilers vs. the Los Angeles Kings hockey game along with their son Matthew and his girlfriend Katelyn and sons Adam, Jonathan and Simon. The home team won and they were impressed with the new arena.

Jenna Nibourg is offering yoga classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Interested persons can call her at 742-7785 for information.

Coming up: Jan. 19 – Hall board bingo at 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 4 – Elks annual Alaskan Seafood and Comedy Nite, with supper and a silent auction, featuring comedian Howie Miller who has been featured in Winnipeg, Halifax and Montreal comedy festivals. Tickets are available at Wells furniture in Stettler, Value Drugs in Castor and at the Halkirk Snack Shack; Feb. 16 – Valentine’s day floor curling bonspiel at the Senior Centre. Entries to be phoned to Paul or Jacqui at 884-2565.
