Elementary school changes its pace from music festival to Crazy Hair Day

As part of social studies at Stettler Elementary School, the 2SG students made igloos out of sugar cubes

As part of social studies at Stettler Elementary School, the 2SG students made igloos out of sugar cubes and animal hide tents out of sticks and brown paper bags, while learning about the early days in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

They also made Inuit people with parkas made out of cotton balls. Their work is displayed proudly in the library.

The 1JL class has been learning about penguins. Students are currently busy writing reports about everything they have learned about penguins.

The grades 1 and 2 students all received an “A” at the music festival, and did an amazing job!

Also, the 2SG and 2DB classes were excited to learn that they had been chosen to receive the adjudicator’s award for the highest mark in Tuesday’s school performances.

They were also invited to perform “Ram Sam Sam” in the grand concert on Tuesday night. Congratulations to all of our SES performers!

Last Friday, we had our own Festival Highlights Concert in the school gym. The concert was for all students to perform for their peers, and to provide them one more opportunity to show off their talents and performances that each class worked so hard on.

Huge credit goes to our music and choral speech teachers who rehearsed many hours with our students.

Our pull-tab program is winding up. It has been another great success this year, and we hope to continue it next year. The last day to bring in pull tabs is May 3. The pull-tab program supports the Ronald MacDonald House in Red Deer.

We would like to say farewell to Kobi, Sarah, and Laura — the school’s wonderful student- teachers. Those 3 women have done a wonderful job here at SES, and we wish them much success in the future.

A reminder that this Friday is Crazy Hair Day at SES.

Also, we would like to remind any parents or guests visiting our school to enter through the main doors by the office and please sign in by the office door. Thanks for your continued co-operation.

Cute quote of the week: The kindergarten students were getting ready for the end of the day, putting on coats, tuques and mitts, when a little girl speaks up and asks, “Is the bell going to ring soon? I think I’m getting a spring fever.”
