Easter a time for family

Good fellowship, good food, lots of visiting, travel, fun and games were part of the Easter celebrations this past weekend.

GADSBY/WESTWOOD NEWS -- Good fellowship, good food, lots of visiting, travel, fun and games were part of the Easter celebrations this past weekend.

On Good Friday, Bill and Joyce Hansel started the day with coffee and cake at brother Joe and Maxine’s to celebrate Joe’s birthday. Also there were Gordie and Shirley Reynolds, Harry and Doreen Martin, Bernard and Lois Garland. Happy Birthday Joe! Bill and Joyce headed on to Erskine to daughter Sue and Brad’s for Easter dinner. There were 46 family members together, and only three adults missing. All the grandchildren and great grandchildren were there.

Gloria and Stan Diegel started Easter last Sunday, March 20, with all the family together: Wade and Ybiett and family, Tasha and Aaron and family, Arden and Deanne and girls, Richelle and Greg and family. This Sunday everyone was back except Tasha and Aaron, and Wade. All came back Monday for “left over” supper.

Vic and Barb Carey spent a quiet Easter while Vic recovers from his second knee surgery, which he had done in Medicine Hat on Tuesday. Get well wishes to Vic.

Percy and Paulette Heer had 19 around their table for Easter Sunday. Daughter Christy and Curtis Wideman and Josie came and with them two exchange students Chris from Hong Kong and Jamie from Nigeria. Matthew arrived and left early to head back to Calgary (Ambrose College). Clayton Wideman is away on a school trip to Ireland, England and Scotland. John and Jewel Heer and Bailey, cousins John and Lorraine, MacKenzie and Justin Hankins and Aunt Jean all were there as well as Jeanne Beisel, Barry and Lorna Brown. Lots of laughter and games, food and Easter goodies.

Frank and Eleanor Dahlgren hosted supper for Dwayne and Bonnie Kobi Saturday night. Kristina and Richard, home from Edmonton, were there as well. Then on Sunday they went to Kobi’s for dinner. Joining them was Richard’s girlfriend Breanna. Richard and Breanna announced their wedding for Oct. 1. Congratulations!

Wayne and Margery Glasier drove to Wandering River last weekend to spend time with Wayne’s sister Kay and Doug Hankinson and helped Kay celebrate her 70th birthday. They stayed a little longer than planned when an Alberta snow storm hit.

Jim and Ethel Baird and the Jim Baird family gathered at grandson Kenny and Kayla’s in Erskine on Easter Sunday. Son Kevin and Diane and family, Leigh’s son James and family, daughter Lynn and Doug and their family, and daughter Melody and her son Kyle, made for about 35 there.

Helen Heier was surrounded by family this weekend while mourning the loss of son Zigfreid, who passed away suddenly in Sweden. Zigfreid and his wife and family live in Sweden. Sincere sympathies to the family.
