In appreciation of donations – Brink’s armoured vehicle arrived at Christ-King school on Thursday to collect the generous donations for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.

Christ-King School in Stettler wrapped up our Pennies for Patients fundraising campaign last week when a Brinks armoured vehicle came by the school to collect the $1500 students and their families raised for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Grade 1s and 2s were treated to a pizza party on Thursday at lunch for being the class to bring in the most money and the grade 3s and 4s enjoyed ice cream sundaes for coming in second place.

Last Wednesday saw Christ King School host its first elementary track meet. Approximately 245 students from five schools participated in six events including high jump, dash, running and standing broad jump, distance throw and target throw. Parents ran a concession booth from our new kitchen with pre-ordered lunches and treats throughout the day. Eleven Christ King students from grades 1-6 brought home 14 trophies. Congratulations to all the students who met the standards and those who won the top spot in their events. Grade 4-8 students will attend ECACS track meet in Wainwright this week.

Kindergarten students went to learn about the RCMP station for a field trip on Wednesday, May 26 where they and their teachers were shown around. They were even put in a jail cell and the restraining chair. After school, the gardening club planted potatoes and is now eagerly awaiting some drier weather to finish planting their plot with corn, peas, carrots and lettuce.

On Friday, May 28, we held our annual Marian celebration, the Living Rosary, where students and staff formed the shape of the rosary, each representing a bead and leading a prayer. Students and staff meditated on the Glorious Mysteries in the life of Jesus and His mother, Mary.

We have some upcoming events to look forward to: the Junior high camping trip to Kootenay Plains from Wednesday until Saturday, the Alix Mac Band visiting us on Thursday and our monthly assembly on Friday with a library presentation. Until next week, many blessings to you and your family.
