Donalda School junior high students are staging a spooky comedy called “The Will and the Spirit”, beginning Thursday May 6, their seventh dinner theatre production in as many years.

With a cast of 13 talented students ranging from 12 to 15 years of age, and the back stage crew and production staff made up of completely students, the play, directed by a teacher, is an entirely student run show.

It’s a good thing Neal Downer doesn’t believe in ghosts because he’d never make it through this spooky night! In order to fulfill the terms of the will of his late eccentric uncle and inherit Downer Estate, he has to spend the night in the dilapidated mansion. The estate is rumored to have a mysterious curse on it and is haunted, but that doesn’t scare away Neal, his fiancé Babs, or his best friend, Rudy. Nor does it deter two eager reporters or the pair of stranded, road-weary motorists. Several humorous encounters with a spirit during the night, however, changes Neal’s mind about ghosts, especially after seeing the spirit’s union membership card. If only he could convince the others that the ghost is real. But that’s not all Neal has to worry about. A raging storm, a midnight séance, a missing person and the discovery of a smuggling ring all will keep you on the edge of your seats.

The three dinner theatre performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 6, 7, and 8. Doors open each evening at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. and the performance at 7 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance by Tuesday, May 4, so catering can be arranged.

To purchase tickets, please call Donalda School (daytime) at 403-883-2280, or Shonna Burkard (evenings/weekends) at 780-608-4263. We look forward to seeing you there!
