Donalda set for a party with 30th annual Bench Fair

Donalda is preparing for a busy weekend, with the 30th annual Bench Fair set for Saturday. Exhibits open at 8 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. A pancake breakfast, running from 8 to 11 a.m., will start the event. All of this will happen at the Donalda Community Hall.

Exhibits can be dropped at the hall on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. For the categories, contact Terry Nordahl at 403-883-2259.

The Donalda Coulee Friendship Club (Drop Inn Centre) will be open for soup, sandwiches, pie and coffee from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, with extended hours for the Bench Fair.

On back-to-back Sundays, Aug. 14 and 21, ABRA Jackpot runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Donalda Arena. For more information, call Barb Bosh at 403-883-2691.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, starting at dusk, the Donalda Community Promotions will present another Drive In Movie in the Coulees. Feature film will be “The Great Outdoors.” Concession will be open for all your movie needs — popcorn, hotdogs, candy and beverages. We’re hoping for a hot August evening to end summer holidays.

The Donalda Coulee Friendship Club will be open on Friday evening for pie and coffee from 7 to 10 o’clock. Come out for an evening of visiting, and of course pie and coffee.

Community condolences to the Webb and Fulton families on the loss of a son and brother in a tragic accident. Service will be held in the Donalda Community Hall on Sunday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m.

Special anniversary wishes to Deanne and Louis Bell, who are celebrating 50 years, and Dean and Tina Franklin, celebrating 51 years, Congratulations!
