Dinner-theatre entertains local residents

Many of our local folks in Erskine took in one of the dinner-theatre performances of the musical Oliver that ran in Hanna from Nov. 12 to 21 presented by Stage Hanna.

Many of our local folks in Erskine took in one of the dinner-theatre performances of the musical Oliver that ran in Hanna from Nov. 12 to 21 presented by Stage Hanna.

The show featured some awesome talent from our area with Jesse Jack playing the lead role of Oliver, with Rod Jack, Sydney Jack and Carly Christie also performing. Kayla Somerville was part of the live orchestra.

Performances were very entertaining and we are very proud of our local talent. Hats off to everyone involved.

Dick and Joyce Moore of Saskatoon were recent visitors to our area visiting Joyce’s brother Bob Walker and other family members.

Karen Gutsche hosted a jewellery party at her home on Tuesday evening with a number of ladies attending.

Recent guests of Bruce and Kate Woelk were Kate’s brother Ken Oulette and a couple of his friends from Lethbridge.

There was no school on Wednesday in observation of Remembrance Day.

Congratulations to Brett Thompson on winning the bull riding championship at the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton. His dad, Don Thompson, of Endiang must be very proud.

Local residents have been busy of lately attending various functions of interest including the CFR Finals in Edmonton, Agri-Trade in Red Deer, Gary Fjellgaard in Stettler, Aaron Lines in Delia and of course the Oliver performances in Hanna.

Congratulations to Mike and Leah (nee Wilkie) Meyers of Craigmyle on the birth of a baby boy on Nov. 13 at the Red Deer hospital, weighing 8 lbs. 5 oz.; a little brother for Sarah.

Congratulations also to the local grandparents Lawrence and Mary Wilkie.

Get-well wishes go out to Caitlyn Keith who is a patient in the Red Deer hospital.

Congratulations to Gus and June Mattheis who celebrated their 40th anniversary with a supper, social and dance on Saturday evening at the Scapa Hall.

Home for the occasion were their daughter Kimberley and family of Abbotsford, B.C. and their son Tyler and his wife of Fort Nelson, B.C. Best wishes to Gus and June for many more happy anniversaries.

Patsy Gallagher of Tulliby Lake was a visitor to our area on the weekend visiting with daughter Krissy and Rod Jack and family and also taking in one of the performances of Oliver. Vel Gore returned with Patsy to Tulliby Lake to spend some time visiting with Wayne and Patsy.

The next meeting of the Endiang Centennial Committee will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Endiang Hall with everyone welcome. Remember to submit your recipes for the centennial cookbook by Nov. 30.

There will be a pancake breakfast at the Endiang Hall on Sunday, Nov. 29 from 9 – 11 a.m. with a menu of pancakes, ham and eggs.
